I always loved having an advent calendar when I was a kid. Quite dangerously, I was allowed to keep mine in my bedroom, but that was back when I had some level of self-restraint when it came to chocolate – I don’t remember opening any doors before their allotted day. Those days are long gone! Nowadays, I don’t get advent calendars because I know that I’m quite likely to eat all 24 chocolates on 1st December!

Now that I have a kid of my own, it’s time to pass on the tradition of opening a door each day in December on the lead-up to Christmas.
